On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh emphasized that the 'double engine' government, comprising both the central and state administrations, is transforming youth power into a national strength. He made these remarks during an event in Lucknow aimed at distributing sports equipment to youth and women's groups.
Adityanath stated that under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the youth are becoming a vital force for the nation. He noted that over 105,000 youth and women's groups are actively engaged across the state, receiving sports kits equipped with volleyballs, footballs, badminton rackets, and other equipment to promote sports and community involvement at the grassroots level.
He remarked, 'Sports keep individuals healthy and foster a spirit of teamwork. Competitions starting in villages can evolve into tournaments at the level of legislators and parliamentarians.'
The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating events like Khelo India, Fit India, and the MP Sports Festival, asserting that healthy competition is key to societal progress.
He added that the ongoing legislative sports festival at the state level provides thousands of youths with a platform to showcase their talents in a spirit of healthy competition. Yogi also encouraged youth and women's groups to extend their efforts beyond sports to promote social, cultural, and folk traditions in villages.
He stated, 'Just as we organize sports competitions, there should be cultural programs that revive our ancestral traditions through folk songs and performances.'
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the role of women's groups in the fifth phase of the 'Mission Shakti' initiative, urging them to raise awareness about women's welfare schemes and empowerment at the village level.
